Reverend Alan Acton's recent experience proves that psychic and spiritual phenomena is still manifesting as it ever did in biblical times, and our Spiritualist understanding allows us to appreciate all the many and mysterious dimensions of life.

## Spiritualists know that psychic and spiritual phenomena transcend time and space and distance…
There are interesting parallels between ancient times, ancient spiritual workers, and the miraculous events reported then, and the modern-day spiritual occurrences that bring them to mind…
For instance, when Reverend Alan Acton caught the train between St Mary Cray and Bromley stations, he was just going about his business as usual.
Always a doughty worker for the light of the holy spirit, whatever he may be doing, his thoughts are never far from his calling as a Spiritualist medium, healer, tutor and minister.
Having arrived at his destination, Rev Alan took the lift from Platform 1 & 2 to take him up to the exit level.
The lift stopped, the doors opened and he stepped out.
To find himself on the opposite side of the railway lines for the way out from platform 3 & 4.
He had no recollection of any movement relocating him/his body from one lift to the other - nor any rational explanation for taking him from one place to another.
It was only a week or so before that disconcerting happening, that Reverend Alan had experienced a wonderful vision of an angel…
Reverend Alan was ordained by the New Christian Spiritualists’ Society, and its First Minister had been reading a specific passage in the bible to which she had been drawn, on the same day as that strange journey was taken.
It was the Acts of the Apostles Chapters 5-8.
There is an account of Stephen’s ‘trial’ and death - and lots of healings and words from spirit, and locked doors being opened without human intervention etc., in these chapters.
In Chapter 8, we learn of a visit from an angel, to a living, highly spiritually motivated, human being called Philip. He was a deacon in the new church in Jerusalem.
The encounter and its consequences also seems strangely familiar. Philip goes down, comes up, and disappears, to reappear somewhere else.
After the disciples of Jesus, Peter and John, had left him to continue their preaching and healing ministry, Philip was given heavenly instructions.
From verse 26: But an angel of the Lord said to Philip, “Get up and go south to the road that runs from Jerusalem down to Gaza.” (This is a desert road). So he got up and went; and there was an Ethiopian eunuch [a man of great authority], a court official of Candace, queen of the Ethiopians, who was in charge of all her treasure. He had come to Jerusalem to worship, and he was returning, and sitting in his chariot he was reading [the scroll of] the prophet Isaiah. Then the [Holy] Spirit said to Philip, “Go up and join this chariot.” Philip ran up and heard the man reading the prophet Isaiah, and asked, “Do you understand what you are reading?” And he said, “Well, how could I [understand] unless someone guides me [correctly]?” And he invited Philip to come up and sit with him. Now this was the passage of Scripture which he was reading:
“LIKE A SHEEP HE WAS LED TO THE SLAUGHTER;
AND AS A LAMB BEFORE ITS SHEARER IS SILENT,
SO HE DOES NOT OPEN HIS MOUTH.

“IN HUMILIATION HIS JUDGEMENT WAS TAKEN AWAY [justice was denied him].
WHO WILL DESCRIBE HIS GENERATION?
FOR HIS LIFE IS TAKEN FROM THE EARTH.”
The eunuch replied to Philip, “Please tell me, about whom does the prophet say this? About himself or about someone else?” Then Philip spoke and beginning with this Scripture he preached Jesus to him. As they continued along the road, they came to some water; and the eunuch exclaimed, “Look! Water! What forbids me from being baptized?” Philip said to him, “If you believe with all your heart, you may.” And he replied, “I do believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.” And he ordered that the chariot be stopped; and both Philip and the eunuch went down into the water, and Philip baptized him. When they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord [suddenly] took Philip [and carried him] away [to a different place]; and the eunuch no longer saw him, but he went on his way rejoicing. But Philip found himself at Azotus, and as he passed through he preached the good news to all the cities, until he came to Caesarea.
Reverend Alan Acton has had the blessing of a real manifestation of the power of the spirit. And has been able to share it with us.
